My top 5 UncommonGoods buys under £25

It’s a known fact that the only shopping I like to do is online and is either for my house or for gifts for my family/friends. I can spend hours and hours browsing for cute things for my home and I love finding unique, quirky gifts that are a bit different from the usual high street purchases. So, when the team at UncommonGoods.com got in touch and asked me to write about some of my fave items from their lovely website, I absolutely said yes!

A US-based site but happy to ship internationally, UncommonGoods is such a perfect go-to for me right now Continue reading…

Customised advent calendars

Don’t get me wrong, I love opening a window with chocolate behind it every morning and I’m grateful to have two this year – one from my employer and one from the PR company we work with. But, I also love my memories of being a child and having the beautiful hand-crafted one my mum made for us. It was a big fabric christmas tree with a bag full of lovely little decorations – we had to close our eyes and pick one decoration out of the bag every day and hang it on one of the little bells on the tree. By Christmas, the tree was full of decorations.

3 easy DIY tree decorations for non-craft people

I love putting up my Christmas tree. I have a compact, easy-to-put-up artificial tree (real ones aren’t my preference) with two-tone green needles giving it a pretty good natural look. My tree decorations are an eclectic mix of old, new, bought and hand-made items. And I love coming home from work, leaving the main lights off but putting the tree lights on. It gives me such a calm, warm, festive feeling.

Last minute Christmas

I have a ‘secret’ hobby – one that my family knows about but most of my friends don’t…I absolutely love arts and crafts. I have a trunk of supplies which range from paint to fabric to embellishments to wool. I love to crochet and cross-stitch and I love painting. I have a number of things around my home which I’ve made and which people often comment on, and I really enjoy making things for other people. Seeing the joy of someone receiving a gift that was hand-made just for them is also so much better than giving shop bought presents and in previous years I’ve made a real effort to make as many of my Christmas gifts as time allows.

This year has been really last-minute though. We only finished lectures a week ago and I’ve still had an assignment and exams to think about as well as my non-uni job. So in this post, I’m going to show you 3 simple Christmas crafts – actually it’ll be 2 crafts and a recipe – which don’t take much time or money but are still really lovely.
