Selfless

Regardless of who we are, what we do, where we come from and what we own, the one thing we all possess is time.

I think it’s safe to say that most of us are a little selfish with our time – myself included. We use our time for ourselves; our first thought in allocating our time is ourself. But what about deciding to allocate your time to someone else? Why not decide, this year, to make someone or something else your priority and allocate some of your time differently? Christmas Jumper Day

Today is my favourite working day of the year – it’s Christmas Jumper Day! For the last 5 years, ITV’s Text Santa has been the driver for the day with them choosing a range of charities to give the collected money to. This year, though, there’s no Text Santa but a number of charities are still using Christmas Jumper Day as a fundraising opportunity. Continue reading…

This Girl Can

Hopefully, lots of you will have seen this advert: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aN7lt0CYwHg or the billboards and posters that have appeared across UK towns since January. They are part of a campaign supported by Sport England to celebrate and encourage women in sport – no matter who they are, what sport or exercise they do, what level they take part at, or how they look doing it.

I think this campaign is fabulous. I love sports and have actively taken part in loads of different sports since I was young. I love team sports but I also enjoy going for a swim or doing Body Balance. I am a red-faced, sweaty competitor, but I don’t care because I love being active. I’ve also coached rugby for nearly 10 years and this side of sport is just as important to me.

Volunteering

Over the last 10 years I have volunteered my time to rugby in various capacities and I’d like to let you know a bit about what I’ve done, why I love it so much and what I gain from it. The merits of being a volunteer are ten-fold, whether its for a sports club or for any other cause. Volunteers are needed all over our towns and cities in many different industries and environments. Giving up even just one hour of your week to be a volunteer can be so worthwhile both personally and for the community you’re working in. Continue reading…
