An evening of desserts for Pirlo’s 1st birthday

Non-blog life has been a little consuming and stressful over the past few weeks so I apologise for not popping up here to post very often. I should be able to share a bit more about what’s been going on in some future posts but for now, I was thoroughly relieved to get an opportunity to get out of the flat for a fun evening last week to go and eat my bodyweight in desserts!

Pirlo’s Dessert Lounge in Digbeth has been open a year and to celebrate its first birthday, I attended a tasting event Continue reading…

Christmas Jumper Day

Today is my favourite working day of the year – it’s Christmas Jumper Day! For the last 5 years, ITV’s Text Santa has been the driver for the day with them choosing a range of charities to give the collected money to. This year, though, there’s no Text Santa but a number of charities are still using Christmas Jumper Day as a fundraising opportunity. Continue reading…

My Christmas biscuit recipes

I love to bake and I especially love to bake at Christmas time. For yourself, to share, or for gifts, home-baked goods can be easy to make and really yummy! I love food

Most of my disposable income goes on food. I love to eat and I love to eat well. Since giving up my waitressing job in November, money has been a lot tighter and I have to budget more carefully than before.

Last minute Christmas

I have a ‘secret’ hobby – one that my family knows about but most of my friends don’t…I absolutely love arts and crafts. I have a trunk of supplies which range from paint to fabric to embellishments to wool. I love to crochet and cross-stitch and I love painting. I have a number of things around my home which I’ve made and which people often comment on, and I really enjoy making things for other people. Seeing the joy of someone receiving a gift that was hand-made just for them is also so much better than giving shop bought presents and in previous years I’ve made a real effort to make as many of my Christmas gifts as time allows.

This year has been really last-minute though. We only finished lectures a week ago and I’ve still had an assignment and exams to think about as well as my non-uni job. So in this post, I’m going to show you 3 simple Christmas crafts – actually it’ll be 2 crafts and a recipe – which don’t take much time or money but are still really lovely.
